These bookends pictured are all created from beautiful stones. They are of good size and heavy to hold books properly. Amethyst crystals, a violet colored variety of quartz, are comprised of hexagonal (6-sided) usually prismatic and terminated crystal structure found in large geodes or pockets. These crystals bookends are as they were found in their natural state and then cut and polished on two sides to create the bookend. These bookends are approximately 4.5"X9". The primary mineral contained in an agate is silicon dioxide, the same as found in most petrified woods. These two Brazilian agate bookends have been color enhanced which is a process used to increase the natural beauty of a plainer color agate.
